Synopsis: To avoid a collision, the Tardis becomes trapped inside
a huge spaceship bound on an eternal warp ellipse. To free his ship, the Doctor
beams down to Earth, while Tegan and Nyssa follow him in the Tardis. The
Doctor arrives in a public school in 1983 and meets retired UNIT Brigadier
Lethbridge-Stewart. He also meets Turlough, a student who is in reality
a young alien recruited by the Black Guardian to kill him. Tegan and Nyssa
arrive in 1977, nad meet the then-Brigadier and the alien Mawdryn, who convinces
them that he is a newly regenerated Doctor. Mawdryn and eight fellow scientists
stole a metamorphic symbiosis regenerator from the Time Lords, and are condemned
to live in a state of perpetual regeneration. The aliens want the Doctor to give
them his life-force to end their suffering. When the two Brigadiers from different
times meet, the energy discharge is enough to free the aliens and save the Doctor.
Turlough joins the Tardis' crew.
