Synopsis: On the Eden-like planet of Deva Loka, all but three members of
an Earth survey team have disappeared. Deemed a suspect, the Doctor
is taken prisoner by Commander Sanders and Officer Hindle. The real culprits are
the Kinda, the peaceful, telepathic natives, who have been trying to get the Earthmen
to mentally become one with them; instead, the two officers' minds snap.
Meanwhile, Tegan is taken over by a snake-like evil eitity, the Mara, who later also
takes over Aris, a young Kinda. The Mara seeks to once again plunge Deva Loka into
chaos by causing the Kinda to attack the Earth Dome, thus prompting an insane Hindle to
start a massive explosion. The Doctor uses a Kinda device to restore Hindle's
sanity. He then defeats the Mara by trapping it inside a circle of mirrors, and banishing
it. Deva Loka is classified as unsuitable for colonisation.
