Synopsis: The White Guardian alerts the Doctor to a great danger.
The Tardis rematerialises on Captain Striker's Edwardian racing
yacht, which turns out to be a space vessel participating in a planet-spanning
race of Eternals, aliens of awesome mind powers but no imagination. The prize
is 'Enlightenment'and is fiercely coveted by Buccaneer Captain Wrack, who has been
using the Black Guardian's power to destroy rival ships. The Black
Guardian hopes that, with Enlightenment, the Eternals will spread chaos
through time and space. Wrack uses Tegan in a plot to destroy Captain Striker's
ship, but the Doctor foils her. Turlough helps the Doctor throw Wrack
overboard, and, together, they win the race. The two Guardians banish
the remaining Eternals, and offer Enlightenment in the form of a crystal.
The Doctor refuses it, and Turlough throws the crystal at the Black Guardian,
thereby severing his bond with the evil entity.
